This two inch long (5cm), one-of a-kind rainbow pendant is lashed with silver plated wire that also forms the bail. The dichroic rainbow glass emerges from a solid blue top and has a beautiful glowing range of rainbow colors with a center accent. The base color is deep cobalt blue. The dichroic pendant was fired at 1500 degrees F with a cap of clear to create a deep and beautiful piece of handmade jewelry. #P1117

What is dichroic glass?
Dichroic glass was first developed by NASA as part of their satellite mirror systems. The exceptionally thin coatings are applied to glass in very controlled environments. Di-chroic means two colors and this glass reflects/transmits different colors depending on the angle of light. When it is worn with different colors, it appears to pick up and reflect some of those colors so it really enhances the total look. I call this the "mood" of the glass and it is impossible to truly capture this quality in a photograph.

I wear my handmade jewelry almost every day. Strangers have often stopped me to look at the dichroic glass and ask or comment about it. Seeing the jewelry being worn and catching the light has been my best advertisement. My customers have commented that the dichroic glass jewelry has been the mainstay of their wardrobe.
