THE MADONNA: This glass tile necklace is a classical reproduction of the Madonna and Child by Pompeo Batoni. Batoni owed his first independent commission to a rainstorm in 1732. Seeking shelter from a sudden storm, a nobleman met him while he was drawing the bas-reliefs to pass the time until the rains stopped. Impressed, the nobleman asked to see some of Batoni's works. Upon seeing his talent, the nobleman offered him the commission to paint a new altarpiece in his family's chapel.

DETAILS: Crystal clear glass oval 30mm x 40mm covers this high resolution digital print. The image is double sealed behind a black cardstock back with mod-podge and a shiny resin glaze. A silver bail is attached to the back, and it comes with a beautiful silver snake chain of 20 inches.
