Product Description
On sale-regular price $2695.00. Capodimonte ceramic lamp depicting a man playing the guitar and a woman with cymbals. The faces of the couple are almost cherub like, especially the man. The colors on the entire lamp are vibrant, and the detail is astonishing showing wrinkles in the clothing, lace on the womans dress, and just wonderful facial expressions. The couple is standing on a large pedestal painted to look like the ground with two small leafy plants.

This is an early 1940's-50's era Capodimonte lamp and is very large scale standing 41"H to the top of the gold filligree shade, 18" wide and 16" deep. The man and woman figures stand about 17-18".

The attached shade is an ornate, filigree gold tone shade that holds faceted cabochon crystals and brass plated arms that hold teardrop shape faceted crystals. The crystals are a clear glass with an iridescent sheen (the crystals are moving in the photograph). Four of the teardrop crystal on the back of the shade are missing, but easily replaced. The rest of the teardrop crystals and cabochon crystals are all still intact.

The lamp is in superb condition with no cracks or crazing. As inherent with this type of pottery there are small chips; the two small plants on the base have chipped leaves, and the back of the man's jacket has a small rub spot with missing green paint. All in all these are very minute imperfections, as the delicate nature of Capodimonte almost always leads to tiny chips here and there. This lamp is so large, and it has survived 70+ years and is still in such wonderful condition. The lamp has a four arm light fixture inside of the filigree shade that holds four chandelier base bulbs. There is no wattage information, but most likely is a 40-60 watt maximum. The original cord and wiring is in good working condition, and there is an of/off in line switch on the cord. A licensed electrician should be consulted prior to use for safety.

Overall, this is a grand, vintage Italian Capodimonte ceramic lamp and one of the largest sizes made and a wonderful example of early Capodimonte pottery. Signed on the base, Capodimonte, Made in Italy.
