Look closely, there's a dragon on her puff-sleeved skimmer dress. The dress's hem is beaded. Look again, her cape is two layers, also with a beaded hem. The cape was singed/burned for textural interest. On her back above the cape is a beaded half flower and a loop for hanging the doll on the wall. From the top of her hair to the toes of her new shoes, this doll is 8" tall.

Originally a bisque doll from the 1940s, this Nancy Ann Storybook Doll came to me naked, with a toddler's face, and missing all her hair, both arms and one leg. A new lease on life came with an older face, wired arms and legs wrapped in vintage Japanese kimono silk, and a hairdo made from yarn and ribbon. I imagine her slowly, gracefully, descending a grand staircase, her cape barely touching each step behind her. She looks to me like she's ready to make an entrance.
