Green Doodle Mantle Clock

$38.00

Product Description
In its former life, this was a slightly beat up Eddie Bauer clock. The coloring was a blond wood. Very blah.

Alterer to the rescue! Layers of sealer, gesso, and green acrylic paint with yellow polka dot and checkerboard accents made this baby look 20 years younger.

This clock will sit on your mantle and baffle you as to what time it is. No, but seriously, it's functional art. Oh, come on, you know where the numbers are, you don't need to see them. Wouldn't you rather look at some beautiful abstract colored drawing instead? Bottom has felt feet for scratchless sitting. Dimensions: 12 ¼ " x 6 ¾" x 2 ½", clock face is 4 ¼" diameter.

PLEASE NOTE FOR ALL CLOCKS: All the clocks I use are completely functional. I test them first to make sure they keep the correct time before I even start work on them. Of course, I also test them after taking them apart and putting them back together. Each also gets a new battery to begin a new life. Sometimes I sing the Mary Tyler Moore song to them (I live in Minneapolis): "...you're gonna make it after all!" before I send them off to their new lives.

I WILL ship almost ANYWHERE, but it's too hard to figure out ahead of time the shipping costs with all the new size restrictions.

So just email me before you pay and tell me your address and once I box up your pkg I'll tell you the shipping cost and total. I'll be happy to send it Flat Rate Priority or First Class, whichever is cheapest for you!
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
I love the sound of ticking clocks, even though I often don't need or want to know what time it is. I just like the ticking. It's comforting. Maybe it's like some people love the sound a shell makes when you hold it up to your ear (which can creep me out--maybe this has something to do with the fact that I get migraines), except this sound is soothing for mechanical nerds. And I love it when there's a second hand to watch, especially in a big clock. Anyway, I finally found an excuse to feed this obsession. I get to take them apart. And even more satisfying, put them back together with my art in them! Mostly I rescue them from the thrift store so they get upcycled..
