This skirt is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art!

The textile comes from Bali, Indonesia and has been hand dyed and hand woven using the ikat method. This is genuine ikat, not a print! Ikat is a labor intensive art of weaving that involves dying each strand individually, then weaving them into stunning, vibrant patters which can be recognized from island to island, village to village.

Textiles such as these are handwoven by the women, an ancient art typically passed down from mother to daughter. Part of the proceeds for the sale of this piece goes to support Threads of Life to keep this cultural art alive. http://www.threadsoflife.com/index.asp

The jeans used for this skirt have been recycled instead of going into the landfill, which is where they were destined! They are 100% cotton.

Machine washable, wash in cold with only dark colors, lie flat to dry.
