"Black and Gold Blooms"- Mixed Media Art Quilt with Nicotiana flowers sunprint- 8.5"x12.5"

This Mixed Media Art Quilt was made in response to an online challenge. The challenge was to use metal in a piece. I wanted to use one of my newest sunprints done with black paint, and accent it with gold metallic fabric and a gold bow. The centers of the flowers are gold metallic jewelry clasps, the gold butterfly is made from sparkly Angelina fibers, stitched with gold metallic thread and black thread. The word BLOOM consists of metal letter charms stitched on the gold side area.

Hand guided machine quilting is done in gold metallic thread to accent the details of the flowers and leaves, while clear thread was used to outline them in the composition. The piece is bound with a suede-like black yarn couched to the edges.

This quilt would look great displayed by mounting it to a pre-stretched artist canvas, or mounted to mat board and framed so the edges will show. It could even be pinned to the wall as it is, the choice is yours.

This One-Of-A-Kind art piece would be a great gift for a nature lover, or be a nice addition to your own home decorating. It looks great by itself or with another in the series as shown in the last photo.
