Product Description

Art Quilt- Mixed Media Fabric Wall Art- "Wisteria Window #2"- 14.5"x 19.5" in size. This art quilt is from my Stones and Walls series inspired by stone walls used in architecture. It shows a wall of a stone home Wisteria blooms climbing up the wall and around the window. The stone wall was "built" stone by stone with small pieces of cotton and silk fabrics in soft colors. Freemotion quilting adds texture to the stonework. The Wisteria stem is made from a combination of nubby yarns and torn fabric couched over the stone. Dyed silk was used for the applique Wisteria flowers. The leaves are cut from various cottons, appliqued on. A shimmery fabric was used for the window, and variegated threads add interest to the stems and create the tendrils and additional leaves. Shredded fibers, tulle, and pastels give the lower part of the wall an aged, mossy look.

A sleeve stitched on the back allows for hanging on a slat or dowel as it is, or it can be framed or mounted on artist pre-stretched canvas for display.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

This series of Art Quilts is inspired by stone walls and architecture. I am surrounded by stone walls and my gardens which I love to bring to my quilts. This series celebrates the gardens that surround many stone homes, including my favorite Wisteria flowers.

I create my art quilts so that I can continue to "garden" all year, even when the weather outdoors doesn't allow me to dig in the ones that surround my home.

Art Quilts make great gifts for a wedding, house warming, or for anyone who loves to garden or just wants to bring the beauty of flowers and gardens indoors.
