"Green Lobelia Flowers Sunprint" Mini Art Quilt for framing 5"x7".

A sunprint of tiny Lobelia flowers with an Astilbe leaf over medium blue to green shimmery painted cotton fabric. Pieces of the sunprinted fabric are bordered by a white fabric in a geometric design. A black yarn with gold metallic is couched over the seams and adds interest. There are heat set Swarovski crystals in the flower centers and intersections of the yarn to add more interest. The piece is bound with the black and gold yarn couched on the edges. Freemotion quilting accents the sunprint, and borders are quilted with a vinelike pattern. Sized for a standard size frame, or display any way you wish.

Sunprints are are a way of using my gardens in my art. They are made by placing leaves, flowers, and(or) thin foam sheet cutouts (for butterflies or hummingbirds) onto freshly painted cotton fabric, while the paint is still wet, and placed in the sun to dry. The combination of sun and humidity affect the speed at which the paint dries. If conditions are ideal, the color moves from under the leaf or flower, resulting in the sunprint. No two can be the same, due to different drying conditions and paint color combinations. Every print is a unique original.
