"Blue Green Mixed Ferns Sunprint" Art Quilt- 8"x10"- From the Sunprint Series.

This art quilt highlights sunprints of assorted fern fronds on blue and green painted fabric. The sunprints are accented with stripes of white fabric and pieces of coordinating salt patterned, painted fabric. Freemotion quilting in clear thread accents the sunprints, and vinelike quilting in a variegated thread accents the white and salt patterned fabric areas. Pieces are edged with a black with gold metallic yarn, and the outer edges are bound with the same yarn.

This will make a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves to be surrounded by nature. Mini quilts are sized for standard size frames, they can be mounted to artist canvas, or even displayed as they are.

Sunprints are are a way of using my gardens in my art. They are made by placing leaves, flowers, and(or) thin foam sheet cutouts (for butterflies or hummingbirds) onto freshly painted cotton fabric, while the paint is still wet, and placed in the sun to dry. The combination of sun and humidity affect the speed at which the paint dries. If conditions are ideal, the color moves from under the leaf or flower, resulting in the sunprint. No two can be the same, due to different drying conditions and paint color combinations. Every print is a unique original.
