"Bench Garden" Art Quilt- 17"x13" in size.

This piece is from my Stones and Walls series of art pieces inspired by stone walls used in architecture. It shows a bench near a stone wall with a garden around it. The garden blooms with blue Siberian Iris and pink Petunias or whatever flower they look like to you. The stone wall was "built" stone by stone with small pieces of cotton and silk fabrics in soft colors. Freemotion quilting adds texture to the stonework. The tree is made using a brown fabric for the trunk, and a leaf print fabric for the leaves. The leaves are small chunks of the print fabric appliqued to give the feel of a large Maple. Flowers and leaves are cut from various cottons, appliqued on. The centers of the pink flowers contain hand applied glass beads. Pastels were used to add shading to the bench and stones as finishing touches. The clouds in the painted sky are shimmery organza.

This piece has a two corner triangles stitched on the upper back corners for hanging on a slat or dowel as it is, or it could be framed or mounted on artist pre-stretched canvas.

This series of Art Quilts were inspired by stone walls and stone architecture. I am surrounded by stone walls and my gardens which I love to bring to my quilts.
