"Rudbeckia on the Rocks"- Bead Embellished Mini Art Quilt- 8"x10" in size.

This Mini Art Quilt is another from my On the Rocks series. The photo of a Rudbeckia flower from one of my gardens, printed onto silk fabric with archival inks, is the focal point. The rocky area is a piece of my hand painted "rocks and mud" fabric that has been stitched, and textured by hand and machine stitching various yarns and fibers onto it.

The fibers remind me of moss, lichens and other tiny plants that struggle to survive in rocky outcroppings. I hand stitched beads and stone chips to add more interest. There are tiny dragonflies, a butterfly and ladybugs. The green section and gray sections are commercial batik fabrics. The piece is bound with two different yarns. The quilting is done with clear thread accenting the flower, and variegated threads have been used for the grassy and vine quilted areas.

This is another One-Of-A-Kind piece that can never be reproduced. It would make a great addition to a nature lover's collection. It can be displayed by mounting to a mat board, then framing, or mounting it to a stretched artist canvas, or just as it is.

This little quilt has no hanging system added to the back. If you wish, I can add corner hanging triangles that will hold a dowel, allowing it to hang on a picture hook. If you would like to hang it in this way, please let me know in the comment from buyer area during the purchasing process, and I will add the corners for you at no extra charge.
