"Echinacea Collage" Art Quilt- 23"Wx26"L

This art quilt is a collage of photos I took of different varieties of Echinacea flowers in my gardens. I printed the photos onto cotton fabric with archival inks, then arranged them into this quilt along with sections of crazy patch fabric I made from fabrics from other projects.

Seams are covered with a black and metallic gold yarn couched on to accent the photos. The hand guided machine quilting is done in clear thread in the photos to accent the flowers, and in a variegated thread in the crazy patch areas. The quilting in the crazy patch areas is done in a leaf and Echinacea flower design.

The outer border of this quilt is a hand painted cotton fabric in colors pulled from the flowers. Sea salt was used to add patterning to the border fabric.

There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easily displaying the piece. It is signed on the front and back by the artist.
