"Maidenhair Stained Glass" Sunprint Series Art Quilt- 8"x10"

A sunprint of Maidenhair Ferns and a butterfly on deep tones of purple, blue with a bit of green painted fabric, is the centerpiece of this little Art Quilt. The sunprint is framed by a border of pastel painted fabrics stitched together with black thread to resemble stained glass.

The sunprint is accented with freemotion hand guided quilting with clear thread, and a vinelike quilting design gives the border texture.

This would be a great gift for a nature lover and (or) quilter.

Botanical sunprints are made by placing leaves, flowers, thin foam sheet cutouts (for butterflies or hummingbirds), and(or) any other flat items onto freshly painted cotton fabric, while the paint is still wet, and placed in the sun to dry. The combination of sun and humidity affect the speed at which the paint dries. If conditions are ideal, the color moves from under the leaves, flowers, or other items, resulting in the sunprint. No two can be the same, due to different drying conditions and paint color combinations. Every print is a unique original.
