"Water & Sky" - original ACEO drawing

For this mini drawing I used Prismacolor color pencils and black Micron ink pen on cold-pressed (smooth) illustration board. The symbolic raven and whale are in ink, the rest is color pencil.

I have signed the drawing on the front and on the back. Ive also included the title "Water and Sky" on the back as well as the copyright year. The drawing is enclosed in a clear plastic sleeve along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) are mini artworks that are the size of a baseball trading card - always 2.5" x 3.5" or vice versa. ACEOs can be original art, photos or prints of an artists work. They are a great way to collect affordable art. This drawing was created as part of a challenge in a group on another auction site. The dare by was to interpret a totem pole as an ACEO. I didn't want to just draw a standard totem pole and I remembered I had some photos I'd taken of a weathered totem pole from the beach in Mendocino, CA. From there I decided to add some symbolic totem animals and did a little research to find symbols that worked. The totem pole looked more Alaskan in style, so I looked for Alaskan style art. The black symbols are my composites of a couple of versions that I found. The totem pole had a whale symbol carved into the eye, so the whale symbols I found were perfect, but I also liked the raven symbol, so I added that too.
