Product Description
A French designed * TRADE CARD * for a CLOTHIER Shop.

The scene depicts 2 boys pulling on the weights of the Cuckoo Clock to wind it, while a girl is inside with a large pan full of a French Sauce...oops it goes pouring out on them!
...so, the joke is the CouCous Sauce & the Cuckoo Clock

The front reads:
"GARE La Sauce De CouCous!
Bognard, Paris"

The back has the advertisement:
"Compliments of COMSTOCK BROS
The Leading Clothiers,
And Gents' Furnishers,
Norwalk & South Norwalk,
Conn"

The coloring gives a kind of 3D effect - the metallic gold & the sort of shadowy background of a kind of open barrier wall. There are also 2 narrow lines - part of the design - that go from the boys hat area to the top of the card.

This card is in good condition, very colorful & bright with a tiny, thin chip of color layer only off the bottom edge of the Cuckoo Clock where the sauce is spilling down. The top left corner has a very light crease line.
Measures 4 1/2" by 3".
