Made from a variety of natural & man made objects this assemblage sculpture is a Primitive style depiction of Venus. Venus (Aphrodite) is a Roman Goddess of love, beauty, fertility, sexual healing, and the waters. This piece by Tree Pruitt is a play upon words as well as a painting by Sandro Botticelli, known as "The Birth of Venus", that depicts the goddess having emerged from the sea as a full grown woman, standing with an elegant posture.

House plant portions and top of "ABC" block, are coated with beeswax and dripped down sides of the block. The nearly fist sized sea shell has soft natural colors. The found-object assemblage materials that I use are cleaned well for safety and best archival quality (a long life).

It is a part of human nature to seek simple beauty and love... and then to complicate the whole thing. I admire the elongated body proportions and angles of composition that Sandro Botticelli often used in his paintings, so reduced them to simplest form with only materials I had on hand at the time (bricolage art).
