Bottle stopper in pearly swirls of blues. This is round like a ball, not flat. It's got some weight to it.

This also seems on the large size to me. I've included several photos of it sitting in an actual winebottle. You can see how it sits rather high.


Note; the blanks I bought (only two so far) are flat inside. I got one, this one, as a flat circle, and I also picked up an oval.
Now you may find some out there by other clay artists where they simply fill the flat area. And those are fine. But I wanted some weight to this so using scrap clay I started building up a ball shape over the flat disk. This means several rounds of baking to make sure the clay is fully cured.
The last layer I used my own blend of clays to make the design. Then it's all sanded and hand buffed to a silky smooth finish.

This is a very solid piece. Good weight which makes it nice to use as a stopper. I wish you could pick it up. Ah, the downside of the internet. No touchy-feely aspect.

Some time ago I picked up only two blanks. They laid around my studio for ages. I finally got around to doing something with them. This blue I made specifically to go with a blue bottle I had. (Love blueberry-wine! Bought one mostly for the bottle but mmmm it's good.)
I was going to keep this but honestly, once I open a bottle, it rarely needs to be recapped! lol.

Not sure if or when I'll make more. Guess that depends on how these are taken. Especially if I do some craft fairs this year. Always best to see actual people view items to gauge how well they go over.
