Product Description
Inspired by the name of the January Full Moon: Wolf Moon.

Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January's Full Moon. Using the poison Wolf's Bane, the villager coated his arrowhead and hunted the wolf that tormented his village.

Mahogany Obsidian was in fact used by Native Americans as arrowheads. Obsidian is a powerful stone that reminds us that birth and death are simultaneously and constantly present, one within the other. It has always been associated with guardian spirits that watch over us. Earlier peoples drew on that protective power in the arrows they made from obsidian. Today people who wear it often speak of a sense of protection.

The chain maille weave used in this necklace is called Full Persian, but as with many other weaves it goes by different names: another one is Foxtail.

The arrowhead pendant measures 1 1/2" including the simple wire wrapped bail and measures 3/4" across. The clasp is 1 1/2" long and is included in the total length of the chain at 19". Metal used: copper.
