This lovely, light green, Prasiolite has been faceted in a Brilliant Cut, which is the common cut for a diamond.

Prasiolite, in Greek means leak green stone, and is also known under the name of Green Amethyst.

Prasiolite, a.k.a. Green Amethyst, is heat treated purple amethyst or a yellowish quartz. Not all purple amethyst will turn this lovely light sage green color, only if there is enough iron compounds in the stone, otherwise it will turn a yellow (citrine), brown color.

Most Prasiolite is mined from Brazil, but there are other sources in Africa and North America, some deposits of heatable amethyst has been found in Arizonia.

Be advised that prolonged exposure to sunlight could cause the color to fade over time.
Clean your gemstone with a mild detergent and cool water.
