This cross is made out of textured cathedral glass in clear, red, green, and brown and embellished with hand formed wire and a silver tone tassel. The photo is of the original prototype and there may be slight variations due to the handmade nature of this item. This cross comes complete with a product card explaining the symbolism, a suction cup as well as a cup hook for hanging in a window or on a wall.

This cross was designed with the Sacrament of Matrimony in mind. The Christian marriage of a man and a woman brings new life into our church and into the world. The bible verses that inspired the symbolism include (in no special order): "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body." Genesis 2:24--The hearts at the center of the cross are nestled close together; and while each is distinctively unique, they seem to be dancing as one. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who lives in me and I am him, will produce abundantly,..." John 15:5--The vertical of the cross is composed of the trunk of a vine which is capable of bearing fruit on its own, while the horizontal arms of the cross contain a branch extending from each of the hearts that is also bearing fruit because they are connected to the vine. "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12--The three wire swirl embellishments, one originating from the vine and the other two originating from the branches come together and twist into a 3 ply cord symbolizing that Christ is the third strand in a Christian marriage. The couple becomes one, not just with each other, but also with Christ. At the end of the 3-ply cord is a tassel, symbolizing the glory a sacramental union brings into the world as it reveals Christ's love and the glory that God has waiting for the couple if they live their love for each other totally, freely, faithfully, and fruitfully. "God blessed them, saying: 'Be fruitful and multiply;...'" Genesis 1:28--The 3 sets of 3 leafs celebrate all the "new life" a married couple will bring into the world and the life-giving grace their love will impart to those they meet along their journey of life. The leaves are tilted forward as if reaching out to the world. "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 (Isaiah 64:3)--Clear textured clear glass, which refracts light, makes up the body of the cross and points to the mystery of life, love and the promise of eternal happiness.
