When I wore my original set of these in the 80's, my boss- a snobby noveau riche - made the comment that she wondered why I had diamonds...wink, wink.
The claw settings DO make them look expensive.

Celebrity had some wonderful pieces that had serious design flaws and these were one. The soldered joining of the earring to the stud just did not stand up. I am call these 'ALMOST CELEBRITY' because although they are original parts- they have been repaired.
I added surgical steel studs that have a bit of a pad to hold them securely to the earrings and on one orphaned earring added a hat pin clutch and now you have a lovely pair of earrings and a small stud pin for your lapel or scarf, or of you happen to wear men's ties. A look I personally find to be both elegant and a subtle statement.

Especially something as pretty and of the quality of Celebrity jewellery.
Look at the fire in those stones- they have retained it in spite of their age...that is quality!
The look of diamonds at a very small fraction of the cost.
My grandfather always said when he finished fixing something- 'NOW IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN NEW'
