This bookmark bears the words of writer Victor Hugo: "to learn to read is to light a fire." I hope my handcrafted bookmark can help inspire that love of reading!

I designed and carved art nouveau style lettering and hand-printed this bookmark in red, water-based ink, on white Japanese rice paper. Laminated for durability. The water-based inks don't have the harsh and dangerous chemicals that oil-based inks often contain.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
I carved the rubber print block (the process took five days) and hand-inked each bookmark. Each bookmark is slightly different, due to the inking application. No printers or digital images were used in the making of this bookmark!

The printing itself took much less time.
