I made this top/skirt set in the 1980's from heavy weight olive green rayon fabric. If memory serves me right, the tunic is of my own design. This set would be great for 1980's era theater costumes and musical performances, or for those who just love vintage clothing.

The fabric is what makes this set so beautiful, with it's fluid and sensuous drape, and my old antique mannequin, with her lumps and bumps, does not do the outfit justice. The rayon fabric has gorgeous body and a soft sheen that catches the light beautifully, and is not not flimsy in any way. I always received compliments when I wore this set.

The tunic has full, dolman sleeves, (also called "batwing" sleeves), and are supported by thick shoulder pads that were in vogue at that time. The tapered 3/4 sleeves have a slit opening at the cuff. The front neckline, that rests gently on the shoulders, has a shallow U-neckline, and the back plunges deeper in a V-shape. (PHOTO #1) The tunic hemline is cut a bit shorter in the front, and can be worn loose or belted with a scarf, attractive belt, etc. It's shown here with a scarf that's not included in this listing.

The skirt has a set-in waist band, zipper, button closure, and a darted panel that fits snugly against the body. A gathered, full skirt attaches to the panel at about the hip line. Photo #5 shows the skirt from a side view.

This set is clean and has been carefully stored away from light and heat. I don't remember the care instructions for this fabric, but hand wash or commercial dry-cleaning would be best.

This ensemble would look stunning on anyone, especially those with dark or Mediterranean skin tones, or those with porcelain light skin and/or golden / platinum hair. It also accessorizes beautifully, especially with gold toned jewelry.
