Silk is a needed Supply for nuno felting so I offer these for your nuno felting projects. Silk sari's used but perfect for nunofelting. I have pulled 20 silk sarees that would be perfect for nuno felting crafts.

These sari's are a mix of colors and patterns but all are shear enough to felt well. I've also made sure that they are all 100% silk.

Nuno is a japanese name, meaning"fabric" ;-). It's a relatively new technique in felting, ie 15 years max, developped by an australian called polly sterling and her assistant, a japanese immigrant to australia called sashiko.... they were searching for a way to make light wearable felt garments for the australian warmer days. Tried to felt wool through a fiber.

The general idea about nuno is that you can use very little wool as the integrity of the structure is given by the silk. In "normal" felt, you need at least two layers of wool slivers, crossed at 90 degrees, to make up for a structure.

nuno is quite used in the felting world actually, but usually for wearable art, because of its lightness.
