Sixteen-year-old Jake Bergren is terrified he and the other crewmen of the Danny Boy won't survive the violent "williwaw" winds coming off the Bering Sea. Winds 100 knots and 16-foot seas plunge their boat into the troughs of the northern Pacific west of Kodiak Island. Hovering in the wheelhouse, Jake knows they'll soon be forced outside to face the icy assault of those wicked winds.
