This bright and cheery brooch brings a little fun into your day.

I combined pink and purple wool for the felted brooch base, and embellished it with various shades of pink and purple seed beads and a few corrugated vintage sequins in shimmery pink.

The brooch measures about 2 inches wide and 1-1/4 inches tall.

Bead embroidery on felted wool is one of my favorite creative outlets. I'm attracted to the warm and fuzzy-ness that is felted wool, and fascinated with the visual and tactile juxtaposition of shiny hard glass and soft matte wool.

I use many different colors and types of seed beads (and a few vintage sequins) to work bead embroidery. I usually start by dumping out my bead stash and putting all the "possibilities" into a pile. Then I start taking out the beads that just don't go with what I have in mind.

Making a bead-embroidered piece is an intuitive process for me - I never really know how a piece will turn out until it's done!
