Number 3 In the Series Good Friends

People who know me, know how passionate I am about the humane treatment of animals. Raising animals for food, should never equal cruel or even indifferent treatment. We are all one of God's creatures, with a responsibility to each other. Imagine if your parents had never named you. That nobody had ever touched with compassion or comfort.
A portion of a the sale price, of every card in the Good Friends Series, will be donated to the Portage County Humane Society. If they really get popular, I will also extend the donation to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

Yes, these guys are buds (buddies). They hang together. Cattle have their own little family units too.

I learned during the growth of these chickens this fall, that the babies crawl under the Mama's wing to warm up and to seek comfort. So these guys are getting grown up, and venturing more into the world, but still stay within a few feet of her at all times. They are getting so big, they don't all quite fit anymore. No matter how much she fluffs up, trying to make room.
It's where the phrase, Taking someone under your wing came from.
Yes, it's a hard job taking tens of thousands of photos of our farm and livestock, but somebody has to do it:)

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
For reasons unknown to me, anytime something new appears, they all fight to sit next to it. I have many ongoing sagas of the babies all trying to sit on the same planter, the same bale of hay, and then there was one that was the oddest of all to me.
As we walk around doing chores, we cover a lot of acres, so sometimes we put things down where they don't belong, intending to pick them up later. Sometimes, that may not happen right away. So, a spray can was set down, in the shed where the chickens roost. They all had to sit next to it as much as possible. Even Mama, who is usually too busy to get involved, had to sit next to it. There would be 2 and 3 at a time, all very proudly, being next to that stupid spray can. It's hysterical.
So, after explaining that, a coffee can is a handy and much used item around our house. We have them everywhere, and yet always seem to be looking for one. These two, started out just looking out of curiosity. One went to check it out, then the other. They are both roosters and extremely competitive. First they were happy to share it together. Then they started to fuss at each other over who could sit closer. Then they weren't friends anymore. Eventually becoming too interested in poking at each other, to be interested in the can. The entire series of photos, is a slow moving soap opera:)
Who needs Tv with all that goes on around here. It's a strange and wonderful life.

We always pledge to treat not only our animals, but all animals in a humane and compassionate manner.
