"October" by Kate Greenaway, vintage Green Tiger Press notecard with envelope.

I have gone into my archives and unearthed a stash of vintage Green Tiger Press ephemera that I am listing in my ArtFire shop.

This notecard depicts the theme of the month of "October" as drawn by Kate Greenaway (1846 - 1901) for her 1890 Almanac. A curly-haired child in a traditional English smock carries a bundle of wheat under the harvest moon.

This full-color image has been printed and tipped (glued) onto high-quality laid paper stock. The interior of the card is blank. The back of the card contains descriptive text giving details about the illustration in the lower left-hand corner. An envelope is included.

This image was exactingly reproduced by the legendary Green Tiger Press in La Jolla, San Diego County, California, in-house on a four-color Heidelberg printing press in the early 1980's: this is an authentic vintage notecard displaying all the attention to detail for which the Green Tiger Press was justifiably famous.

I worked for the Green Tiger Press for a short time when I first moved to California and was an avid collector of their images from children's books. When the business was sold in the mid-1980's, I went to their closing sale and stocked up on books, notecards, bookplates, and postcards.
