African Azande Shield Guitar Strap Hand Embroidered on Brown Burlap

Product Description

This hand embroidered African shield custom guitar strap is based on the Azande tribe of Central Africa. The front of the strap is brown burlap and the shield is embroidered with black, tan, copper, and variegated red-brown yarn, giving the strap a rough-hewn authenticity. The back lining of the strap is light caramel satin and the leather tabs are brown premium suede leather.

The Azande people are located primarily in the Congo, Sudan, and the Central African Republic. The Azande were, at one time, a fierce warrior culture and much of their art reflects that heritage. With the emphasis on wood materials and clay, the dominant colors in their artwork are various shades of brown and red and I have tried to stay true to that standard with this guitar strap. The image itself is based on one of a collection of African shields I saw during a museum tour. I am very proud of this guitar strap and hope it adequately conveys my respect and appreciation for Azande culture.

My guitar straps are amazingly comfortable. The 3 inch width allows for weight distribution over 50% more area than conventional guitar straps and even solid body bass players have commented on how comfortable my guitar straps are. Further, because there are 3 bottom layers of fabric between your shoulder and the polypropylene foundation, there is a soft cushion to help further distribute the weight of your guitar without holding the body heat that standard lamb's wool shoulder pads retain, so your strap is soft, cool, and comfortable. No more aching neck or shoulder and no more pressure points.

CONSTRUCTION - The guitar strap foundation is 3 inch wide (7.62 centimeters) and 6 foot long (1.83 meters) 2000-pound test commercial grade polypropylene strap material. The strap adjusts from a maximum length of 6 feet (1.83 meters) to a minimum length of 39 inches (.99 meters).

LEATHER TABS - The leather tabs are comprised of a 3 inch by 8 inch section of top quality leather, folded over a commercial grade plastic anchor bar and trimmed to shape. The two sides of the leather are then glued with commercial strength tanner glue and double whip stitched with heavy waxed leather sewing thread designed specifically for stitching leather. The button hole is hand punched and cut to precisely fit a standard 12mm guitar pin.
