Product Description

This is a beautiful striped hand embroidered and hand beaded custom guitar strap rendered on elegant red, crimson, and pink Dupioni silk. Hand embroidered floral scroll work in dark red embroidery thread ornaments the front of the guitar strap and interspersed on the guitar strap embroidery are lovely twisted copper rings and bead clusters. The back lining of the guitar strap is crimson Dupioni silk and the leather tabs are black premium suede leather.

The beauty of Dupioni silk lies in its very subtle iridescence. This iridescent quality is the result of two silk worms sharing one cocoon and spinning their silk together. The silk threads interweave with each other but, because each silk worm's thread is a slightly different color, the two threads together create the shimmer so characteristic of Dupioni silk. The two threads also create a fabric that is especially durable and resilient, and the look has a timeless luxuriousness about it. The copper rings and beads, which are actually high end jewelry components, add to the cultured uniqueness of this guitar strap.

My guitar straps are amazingly comfortable. The 3 inch width allows for weight distribution over 50% more area than conventional guitar straps and even solid body bass players have commented on how comfortable my guitar straps are. Further, because there are 3 bottom layers of fabric between your shoulder and the polypropylene foundation, there is a soft cushion to help further distribute the weight of your guitar without holding the body heat that standard lamb's wool shoulder pads retain, so your strap is soft, cool, and comfortable. No more aching neck or shoulder and no more pressure points.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

I can never get enough of Dupioni silk and am always looking for new ways to adorn it. I buy all the jewelry findings I use from www.royalmetals.artfire.com because her supplies are always top quality and reasonably priced. All I have to do is browse her studio and I will find any number of ideas for my guitar straps.

CONSTRUCTION - The guitar strap foundation is 3 inch wide (7.62 centimeters) and 6 foot long (1.83 meters) 2000-pound test commercial grade polypropylene strap material. The strap adjusts from a maximum length of 6 feet (1.83 meters) to a minimum length of 39 inches (.99 meters).

LEATHER TABS - The leather tabs are comprised of a 3 inch by 8 inch section of top quality leather, folded over a commercial grade plastic anchor bar and trimmed to shape. The two sides of the leather are then glued with commercial strength tanner glue and double whip stitched with heavy waxed leather sewing thread designed specifically for stitching leather. The button hole is hand punched and cut to precisely fit a standard 12mm guitar pin.
