This is simply a super cool guitar strap! The strap front is comprised of heavy blue denim that has been shredded in just enough places to make it really interesting. The front is also underlined with a twilight blue rayon. The back lining of the guitar strap is light sky blue rayon and the leather tabs are black premium suede leather.

This is actually not my first shredded denim guitar strap. My first one was a custom order guitar strap that had very different tears and was underlined with red Tartan plaid cotton to simulate boxer shorts peeking through the tears. I was concerned about strap integrity so very closely monitored how well the first strap has held up. The owner of the first shredded guitar strap is a very hard playing, constantly performing bass player and I felt if his strap could endure the beating he gave it, it would be a wonderfully unique guitar strap for other guitarists. After two years and a great deal of heavy use, the original strap is in mint condition and shows no signs of the tears growing so I feel really good about offering this strap to you.

The way I created the tears is by cutting lines in denim fabric of the guitar strap. I then wash the cut denim in a double spin wash cycle to get about as much shredding as the fabric is going to undergo with heavy use. I then sew a lining fabric directly to the strap foundation to go under the denim, then overlay and stitch the denim on top of that top lining. The whole visual effect is really impressive.

My guitar straps are amazingly comfortable. The 3 inch width allows for weight distribution over 50% more area than conventional guitar straps and even solid body bass players have commented on how comfortable my guitar straps are. Further, because there are 3 bottom layers of fabric between your shoulder and the polypropylene foundation, there is a soft cushion to help further distribute the weight of your guitar without holding the body heat that standard lamb's wool shoulder pads retain, so your strap is soft, cool, and comfortable. No more aching neck or shoulder and no more pressure points.

I wish I could claim credit for this really novel guitar strap. I can't, though. One of my patrons came up with the idea and asked me if I could make it. I said I could but wasn't sure how well the torn fabric would hold up to hard use. We decided to give it a try and see what happened. What happened is that he probably has the coolest guitar strap anyone's ever seen. He also has the only one in all the world, until now.

CONSTRUCTION - The guitar strap foundation is 3 inch wide (7.62 centimeters) and 6 foot long (1.83 meters) 2000-pound test commercial grade polypropylene strap material. The strap adjusts from a maximum length of 6 feet (1.83 meters) to a minimum length of 39 inches (.99 meters).

STITCHING - All the stitching on this guitar strap is done by hand. Whip stitching runs the full length of the strap on both sides, anchoring the top and bottom fabrics to the polypropylene strap material foundation.

LEATHER TABS - The leather tabs are comprised of a 3 inch by 8 inch section of top quality leather, folded over a commercial grade plastic anchor bar and trimmed to shape. The two sides of the leather are then glued with commercial strength tanner glue and double whip stitched with heavy waxed leather sewing thread designed specifically for stitching leather. The button hole is hand punched and cut to precisely fit a standard 12mm guitar pin.
