This dark Hunter green handmade custom guitar strap possesses the incredible elegance and beauty of India's finest needlework. The background fabric is Hunter green Dupioni silk overlaid with dark green India silk intricately and densely hand embroidered with swirling, curling flowers and leaves rendered in light and dark dusty rose, light and dark green, and metal wire thread with tiny cream borders running the full length of the guitar strap. The embroidery on this strap is massively detailed and is comprised primarily of tiny chain stitches, stem stitches, satin stitches, and French knots. The back lining of the guitar strap is mint green Dupioni silk which matches the lighter green embroidery thread, and the leather tabs are black premium suede leather. This guitar strap is beautiful beyond words and will undoubtedly set you apart as a musician with both style and class.

This style of Indian embroidery is called Ari embroidery technique, which is a derivative of Zari embroidery technique. The difference is that Zari technique uses metallic thread while Ari technique uses silk or satin fiber threads and is much more colorful. Both draw on intensely ornate floral design and are dominated by excruciatingly tiny chain stitches. The primary tool for this type of embroidery is a long hooked needle which is pushed through the fabric, catches a thread underneath, and pulls it back through to the surface. It is a time consuming, precise process but results in just incredibly beautiful needlework. I found about 30 stitches in the needlework that needed repair. I will be interested to see if the person who buys this guitar strap can distinguish my repairs from the original needlework.

My guitar straps are amazingly comfortable. The 3 inch width allows for weight distribution over 50% more area than conventional guitar straps and even solid body bass players have commented on how comfortable my guitar straps are. Further, because there are 3 bottom layers of fabric between your shoulder and the polypropylene foundation, there is a soft cushion to help further distribute the weight of your guitar without holding the body heat that standard lamb's wool shoulder pads retain, so your strap is soft, cool, and comfortable. No more aching neck or shoulder and no more pressure points.

As I learn more about Indian needlework, I am astounded at the variety of styles that exist. Each style, based on its region of origin, is a tremendous source of pride for the artisans who create this work.

CONSTRUCTION - The guitar strap foundation is 3 inch wide (7.62 centimeters) and 6 foot long (1.83 meters) 2000-pound test commercial grade polypropylene strap material. The strap adjusts from a maximum length of 6 feet (1.83 meters) to a minimum length of 39 inches (.99 meters).

STITCHING - All the stitching on this guitar strap is done by hand. Whip stitching runs the full length of the strap on both sides, anchoring the top and bottom fabrics to the polypropylene strap material foundation.

LEATHER TABS - The leather tabs are comprised of a 3 inch by 8 inch section of top quality leather, folded over a commercial grade plastic anchor bar and trimmed to shape. The two sides of the leather are then glued with commercial strength tanner glue and double whip stitched with heavy waxed leather sewing thread designed specifically for stitching leather. The button hole is hand punched and cut to precisely fit a standard 12mm guitar pin.
