Product Description

A classic hard driving, flashy rock'n'roll custom handmade guitar strap! Curling red foil flames on black satin climb the full length of this visually aggressive guitar strap. You can almost hear it sizzle! The fiery theme is continued with the rich red satin back lining. The leather tabs are black premium suede leather.

Trying to track the introduction of fire as a major rock music theme is a little tricky but it appears that the first notable reference to fire in rock music was Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire", released in 1957. It reemerged in the 60's with The Doors' release of "Light My Fire" in 1967. Since then, the imagery has been a fixture in virtually every major music style from disco to metal to pop. Since rock music has its roots in anti-authoritarianism, the power of the imagery is, I believe, found in the destructive nature of fire, the undoing of the "givens" within society. CONSTRUCTION - The guitar strap foundation is 3 inch wide (7.62 centimeters) and 6 foot long (1.83 meters) 2000-pound test commercial grade polypropylene strap material. The strap adjusts from a maximum length of 6 feet (1.83 meters) to a minimum length of 39 inches (.99 meters).

LEATHER TABS - The leather tabs are comprised of a 3 inch by 8 inch section of top quality leather, folded over a commercial grade plastic anchor bar and trimmed to shape. The two sides of the leather are then glued with commercial strength tanner glue and double whip stitched with heavy waxed leather sewing thread designed specifically for stitching leather. The button hole is hand punched and cut to precisely fit a standard 12mm guitar pin.
