This is an antique Yemen silver bridal dowry Necklace made of silver and coral of the finest quality and workmanship. A museum quality piece. Made in Yemen in the earlier part of the 1900s and brought into our collection directly from Yemen in the late 1900s.

This is a piece to grace any collection and or the the bosom of any wearer. On the plaques, the silver workmanship is a traditional spiraled wire inlay with round flat silver applique punctuating the spaces between the spiraled wire. The small pendants have coins attached. The coins are dated 1293 in the A.H. dating system, which translates to 1872 in the Western dating system. The coins may have been around a while before they were attached to the necklace. The necklace may not be of the same age.

The large silver plaque with attached amulet and the four strands of silver and coral beads has tiny granulated silver separator beads that follow each beautiful old handcrafted coral bead. The side plaques and finials, end pieces, are hollow silver pieces with the same motif as the center plaque covering the front surface. Four filigree pieces hang from the the amulet or q'tub, mezuzzah, or hirz with silver filigree attachments. The amulet is decorated with fine wire inlay in its center section. Each end is smooth and capped with granulation.

The coral is natural old Mediterranean coral, hand crafted and much prized by the Yemeni people.

The chain and clasp were attached later.

The necklace is 21 inches long. The center plaque, amulet and attachments are 4 inches long x 1.25 inches wide. The coral beads average 4 mm diameter.

The item will be wrapped carefully and packed in protective material in a postal service approved package. Delivery confirmation and insurance will be paid by me, the Seller.
