From Tibet in the Himalayas comes this large horn shaped agate with dragon veins. It is called dragon vein agate because its colors are not shaped in defined bands or layers; neither it is a single, solid color, but is a network of burgundy, rust and marbled grey. It is has a shallow piercing in the upper left corner. It seems to be put there on purpose. Central Asian jewelry makers often pierce their silver work in this manner for their own peculiar reason, which I do not know, nor have I been able to learn the reason.

The silver plated brass accent beads are old beads from India. I have a stash of these beads that have acquired a patina and go well with old gemstone beads. The smaller free form beads are old, hand made and hand drilled carnelian, jade and quartz beads.

The chain is antiqued silver plate. No clasp is necessary; it slips over your hairdo with space to spare.

Except for the chain and clasp, this necklace shows its Himalayan heritage all along the string of beads. All the beads are found in the countries that include portions of the Himalayan mountains, and the central large bead comes from the Tibetan Plateau itself. This necklace will get you noticed no matter what you wear with it.
