The #8 mine Turquoise was first mined in 1929. In the 1960's gold was discovered in the area surrounding the mine. During the 1980's and 1990's, the entire #8 mine was excavated out as part of the Blue Star open pit gold mine. The area were the #8 mine once was is now an open pit. No more #8 mine Turquoise will ever be mined making this a highly desirable and collectible Turquoise. Number 8 mine Turquoise has a very distinct matrix that varies from light brown to black.

Our #8 Mine Turquoise is priced at an incredibly low price of only $4.50 per carat. Please note that we do not back our cabochons unless noted. This means that your cabochon is all Turquoise. All Turquoise cabochons should be properly cushioned in their settings to help protect them from damage.
