This one of a kind ocean themed trinket box was made by covering a metal coffee tin in blue polymer clay and dusting the clay with Pearl Ex powder. The box measures 4 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide, and 5 inches tall (to the top of the octopus). Polymer clay sea life, including a dolphin, sea horse, fish, and turtles decorate the sides of the box. Multicolored polymer clay sea shells decorate the corners of the box. The lid in made from two layers of polymer clay, with wires between the layers of clay for added strength. A blue and purple octopus with white speckles doubles as a handle. I made his eyes from glow in the dark clay. I covered the bottom of the box with felt, which I've signed and dated.

I'd been planning on making trinket boxes as way to recycle my empty flavored coffee tins. When the Ocean Challenge for my Polymer Clay Smooshers guild came up I figured that would be a fun theme for a trinket box. This was a lot of fun to make, and a great way to recycle!
