This one of a kind Fantasy Dragon Rider sculpture was sculpted by hand in polymer clay. The piece measures 7 1/2 inches tall and 9 inches from toe to tail tip. The blue and green dragon has a 7 1/2 inch wingspan. I used blue polymer clay for the plates on the underside of the dragon. I mixed shades of blue and green polymer clay to create individual scales in varying shades. The ears, horns, and spines were sculpted from glow in the dark clay. I dusted the green wings with Pearl Ex powder for a magical iridescent shimmer. The dragon has red glass beads for eyes, with painted black pupils. The Dragon Rider himself is dress in earth tones and wearing the magical golden gloves that only a true Dragon Rider can wear. To him there's nothing more joyful than hopping on his faithful dragon and cruising the skies!

This piece was created as an entry for the Polymer Clay Smooshers guild Medieval Challenge. I've been thinking about sculpting a Dragon Rider (or possibly several) for some time now. This Challenge gave me the final spark of inspiration I needed.
