This heart earring and necklace set is the perfect Valentine's Day gift. Handcrafted from red gold polymer clay, the pendant measures 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" tall, and the earrings measure 1 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" long. I stamped the unbaked clay with the Chinese symbol for "heart" on one side, and the word "HEART" on the other side. After baking I filled the impressions with black acrylic paint, then sealed the clay with high gloss glaze. The pendant in strung on a 23" long red leather like cord and has a silver lobster clasp. The earrings have been accented with red multi-faceted fire polished glass beads and brass filigree caps. They have gold plated ear wires. This set would make a beautiful gift at any time of the year, but is especially appropriate for Valentine's Day.

The Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild Asian Challenge was the inspiration for this jewelry set. I wanted to make something that would be nice for Valentine's Day, as well as a piece that "said" something meaningful. I took a little time to research different Chinese symbols and chose "HEART" as the most appropriate.
