This one of a kind, 40mm Picture Jasper Kokopelli hangs from an adjustable, handwoven seed bead herringbone chain. I like matching bead colors to the stones I use, so this herringbone weave is done in the same rich, earthy colors as the Picture Jasper. Copper seed beads, dark khaki, matte black and silver lined transparent pale amber combine to give this necklace set a Southwestern look.

The necklace will adjust from 14 inches (35cm) to 16 inches (41cm) by using the second loop in the peyote toggle and loop closure. The ends of the herringbone tube are closed with 6mm metallic bronze fire polished Czech crystals. Each end of the peyote toggle has a 4mm black diamond fire polished crystal on it.

The simple tassel earring the coordinate with the necklace are approx. 1 1/2 inches (3.5cm.) long. The six strands of seed beads on each earring are done in the same earthy tones as the necklace chain. They hang from a 6mm bronze fire polished Czech crystal. The earrings are on hypo-allergenic surgical steel ear wires.

It is believed that picture jasper helps with the re-evaluation of life's issues. It is also associated with contentment, and compassion.

Most of the familiar Kokopelli depictions are copied from Hopi art and those have derived from ancient Anasazi rock carvings. These date back over 3000 years. There are many legends surrounding this flute playing traveler who is known as a fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller. He is the only petroglyph to have a name, an identity and a gender. I know that Kokopelli has always made me smile when I see him and sometimes I can hear his flute in the wind.
