This Green Tree Agate Kokopelli hangs from a double spiral handcrafted seed bead chain that is done in bead colors that compliment the colors of the stone. Transparent olivine and matte olivine Matsuno seed beads are interwoven with Green Tree Agate chips that give texture to the spiral. This is a one of a kind necklace and is the fifth in my Kokopelli series. It took about 12 hours to make.

The clasp on this choker is a peyote toggle and loop. The toggle has a Green Tree Agate chip on each end. Two loops allow you to lengthen the choker from 14inches (35cm) to 15 inches (38cm). The Kokopelli focal stone adds 2 inches, (5cm) to the length.

The coordinating earrings that are included are also done in a double spiral weave in the olivine colors. Each earring has two Green Tree Agate chips dangling from the bottom of the earring. They are approximately 2 inches (5cm) long and hang from hypo-allergenic surgical steel ear wires.

Most of the familiar Kokopelli depictions are copied from Hopi art and those have derived from ancient Anasazi rock carvings. These date back over 3000 years. There are many legends surrounding this flute playing traveler who is known as a fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller. He is the only petroglyph to have a name, an identity and a gender.

I know that Kokopelli has always made me smile when I see him and sometimes I can hear his flute in the wind.
