Miniature 1:12 scale open book: Macclesfield Alphabet, 15th century

$6.00
Quantity: 1 available
Product Description
This is a handmade, permanently open 1:12 scale book.

It shows two colourful pages from the famous Macclesfield Alphabet, a 15th century "pattern book" of source material for calligraphers.

It would be a lovely miniature for any period dolls house library (especially a Medieval or Tudor house or monastery), a bookshop, or a setting devoted to printing and graphic design.

It has been handcrafted from wood, with a leather cover. The cover has been detailed in gold and edges of the "pages" are gilded. I've used acidfree glues in constructing this piece and the "pages" are protected with two layers of acidfree matte varnish.

It measures 1-1/4" tall x 1-1/2" wide x 1/4" thick.

While this piece is quite sturdy, like most 1:12 miniatures it is not intended as a toy for small children.

Accessories and props are not for sale :)
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
While working on a Tudor/medieval dolls castle, I noticed how few books were available for this time period, so I decided to make some!

I have these on display in my own dolls house, and get many compliments on them.
