The colors of these copper earrings are the natural patinas produced by slow heating. I first cut the pieces by hand, then file and buff the edges with steel wool to ensure a smooth finish. As I heat the copper it changes from coppery pink to purple to blue to green and so on through the color spectrum.......I can stop at any time and create the starburst effect through torch-tip control. I then polish the backs to raw copper and give both sides 3 coats of clear lacquer to prevent further oxidation and to give them a durable gloss finish. Finally they get a coat of car wax to protect the surfaces against skin oils and acids.

Every now and then I add comments about hair color and earring color. These are guidelines only...... you know your own taste, so go for it. But a few hints on color suitabilities can be useful if you're buying for someone else (especially if you're male and feeling a bit lost amid all the choices).
Generally speaking, tonal contrast can be important....light earrings with dark hair , and vice versa.... (particularly in long hair where shades too close to hair color can get lost), and certain colors do seem to favor particular hair shades....green for redheads, blue for blondes for example, but again, it comes down to whatever turns you on.....so don't let me bully you......real creativity often comes from breaking rules.....but it helps to know what those rules are.....
