Silver Canada 1962 Dime with the Bluenose ship image. The other side, as seen through the windows on the back of the ring, is an image of Elizabeth II at 27 years old. It is surrounded by the Latin inscription ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA, meaning: Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, the Queen.



Ring from top to bottom is 23.4mm, width is 20mm, ring band is 8mm wide.

Coin is 80% sterling and 20% copper.



Built in 1921, Bluenose was a racing and Canadian fishing schooner from Nova Scotia. The fishing schooner on the Canadian dime, added in 1937. Bluenose met her demise off the coast of Haiti in 1946. She was later commemorated by a replica Bluenose II built in 1963. A celebrated racing ship and hard-working fishing vessel, Bluenose became a provincial icon for Nova Scotia as well as important Canadian symbol in the 1930s.
