This 5 cent New Zealand coin shows an image of Tuatara reptile curled on a coastal rock on which is superimposed the figure "5". The obverse (front of coin) shows Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is embellished with Swarovski crystals representing the different colors of the ocean. Each crystal has been wire wrapped with brass wire. The coin is mounted in a handmade 14kt gold filled bezel.

The coin is made of copper and nickel, weighs 2.83 grams, and is about 20 mm in diameter. The chain necklace consists of gold plated oval links. The necklace is completed by a gold plated lobster claw clasp and is 20 inches long, adjustable to 19 inches, 18 inches, and 17 inches. Tuataras like cool weather making them unusual reptiles. They do not survive well over 25 degrees centigrade (77 degree Fahrenheit) but can live below 5 degree centigrade (41 degree Fahrenheit), by hibernating in burrows. New Zealand's climate is just right. Tuataras have been around since New Zealand separated from the rest of the world 100 million years ago. As a consequence no predators were able to cross the ocean enabling the survival of the Tuatara reptile. These reptiles can now be found in New Zealand's outlying islands and some on the mainland under protection.

All of my coin jewelry is set in bezels, they are never defaced in any way such as drilling holes, soldering connectors to coins, hammering, or bending. My coins are left in as is condition.
