The Euro coin was introduced in 2002. The 1 cent euro coin has a value of one-hundredth of a euro and is made of copper-covered steel. Euro coins have a common reverse and country-specific (national) obverse. This particular coin is the 1 cent German Euro.

The reverse side (common) depicts a globe on the bottom with six fine lines leading to stars on each side of the globe representing the 12 member eurozone (countries that have adopted the Euro as their common currency and sole legal tender). On the top left is a large number 1 followed, in smaller text, by the words "Euro Cent". The common side was designed by Luc Luycx, a Belgian artist who won a Europe-wide competition to design the new coins. The designer's initials, LL, appear to the right of the globe.

The obverse (national) side depicts the oak twig, reminiscent of that found on the current German pfennig coins. It was designed by Professor Rolf Lederbogen. All Euro coins must include twelve stars (in most cases a circle around the edge). The year and mint mark are shown at the bottom. This particular coined was minted in Berlin indicated by the mint mark "A" in the year 2002.

* Coin is set in 14 kt gold filled bezel. Brass wire wrapping, sterling silver and gold filled beads adorn the top of the pendant.

* Necklace is 19 inches long and is adjustable to 18, 17, and 16 inches, made of gold plated chain, and completed by a gold plated lobster claw clasp.

* Coin pendant is 1 inch long (24mm) and about ¾ inch wide (18mm).

All of my coin jewelry is set in bezels, they are never defaced in any way such as drilling holes, soldering connectors to coins, hammering, or bending. My coins are left in as is condition.
