This necklace consists of mixture of Serpentine and Chrysoberyl (darker green stones) gemstones approximately 13mm to 14mm. Several 10mm round faceted Pineapple "quartz" glass are scattered throughout the necklace. The pendant is made of a pineapple shaped bead and a faceted round pineapple quartz bead. Lovely warm colors for the summer.

Pineapple "quartz" glass is transparent to translucent light yellow color with an opalescent glow. It is actually lab-grown quartz. Lab-grown quartz has the same chemical, physical, and optical characteristics as natural quartz. Natural quartz can be distinguished from glass or lead crystal by its double refraction and the tiny air bubbles glass often contains. This necklace is made of the lab-grown type of quartz and has the look and feel of the real quartz.

In its natural form, Chrysoberyl is a yellowish to green color which are the stones used to make this necklace. There are three varieties of Chrysoberyl: ordinary yellow-to-green Chrysoberyl, cat's eye or cymophane, and alexandrite. The cat's eye version produces an opalescence that reminds us of an eye of a cat. This necklace is made of the yellowish to green type of Chrysoberyl.

Serpentine is an attractive green stone that takes a nice polish and is suitable for carving. It has been used as a substitute for jade and is sometimes difficult to distinguish from jade. Serpentine is a group of rock-forming hydrous magnesium iron phyllosilicate minerals and colors can range from olive green, yellow or golden, brown, or black.
