Southwestern style sterling silver 8 mm beads, notice how each bead is stamped with a southwestern design. This necklace is made of Denim Lapis 8mm gemstone round beads, sterling silver smooth round 6mm beads, and textured sterling silver toggle clasp. Necklace length is approximately 21 1/4 inches (54cm). Earrings are 1.5 inches in length.

Denim Lapis gets the name from it's similarity to the color of the denim fabric used to make jeans. Also, denim lapis is a another name for blue lapis lazuli but only when the lapis has a specific color shade that resembles the denim fabric. Lapis lazuli is consists of pyrite, calcite and lazurite as major components. The lazurite is what gives blue lapis the deep blue color in blue lapis lazuli. However, blue lapis is not naturally found with a uniform blue color. It will often show white patches or streaks. The white element of lapis is brought about by the presence of calcite. The pyrite in lapis lazuli appears as tiny golden specks. So, Denim lapis is a lighter blue because of the presence of calcite, whereas, the deeper blue lapis contains less of the mineral calcite. Most of the Denim Lapis comes from Chile.

Lapis lazuli is believed by Buddhists to bring inner peace and freedom from negative thoughts. It is a gemstone of royalty and spirituality and was used in the jewelry of the Egyptian Pharaohs.
