Green garnet, crystal, and antiqued brass filigree are combined with black and peridot green in this 21 inch necklace with pendant.

I used 5 green garnets, 4 on the necklace and one for the pendant. The 5 green garnets are olive green faceted ovals and each is capped with antiqued brass filigree. The pendant is embellished with a swirl of brass and attaches to the necklace with antiqued brass filigree. The antiqued brass filigree blends perfectly with the green tones and gives the necklace an appearance reminiscent of jewelry from an earlier period.

There are two green garnets on each side of the necklace that are separated by a faceted black crystal. Additional black and peridot crystals complete the length of the necklace. I made the hook and eye clasp from heavy gauge brass and gave it a hammered texture. I placed the pendant on the necklace over 3 peridot crystals and added black and peridot crystals to either side. The length of the pendant, measured from the necklace, is approximately 2.25 inches.

The following are details about the beads and metal I used (All dimensions are approximate):

o 5 faceted oval green garnets, each three quarters of an inch by one and one quarter inches
o 14 faceted black rondelle crystals, each three eights inch by one quarter inch
o 26 faceted black rondelle crystals, each one eights by one quarter inch
o 20 faceted peridot bicone crystals, each one eight of an inch
o 5 oxidized brass filigree stampings used as bead caps
o 1 oxidized brass filigree connector used between the green garnet and pendant bail
o 1 oxidized brass filigree stamping used as the pendant bail
o 4 inches of 14 gauge brass wire for clasp
o 3 inches of 20 gauge brass wire for pendant embellishment

I love the look of antiqued brass. These filigree stampings with their intricate design, and the coloring of the faceted green garnet beads, appealed to my love of jewelry handed down from one generation to another. Combined with crystals, it was a joy laying out the design for this necklace and pendant.
